![]() A good social skill helps getting good prices. They need to be 8 in handling to master rhinos, they need to know how to heal, shoot, build and optionnaly mine and cook. I pack 20k of kibble and 5k of pemmican on every caravan, with 2 colonists. It's easier to handle, given caravans are gone half of the year. I like alpaca + cows rather than muffalo, because of the separation of roles : Cows create a steady kibble income, and alpaca are for packing only. ![]() I have 50 alpaca and 30 rhinos (male exclusively) for every caravans I send out, and they spend most of their time grazing around (keep rhinos inside during winter, they'll be harmed by the cold). I'm having a blast playing this scenario, even though i'm 80h of gameplay in. So I'm playing a 0 electricity colony, based on farming and I'm trying to gather technologies and armors / defenses through trading only. I was also frustrated about my caravans getting slaughtered on rough difficulty, so I decided to restart a new colony with the sole purpose of becoming good at caravan trading. There's also a number of game mechanics that really frustrate me, like the megaspider spawns, which many times seem to spawn in inappropriate places, or the fact that my Devilstrand never seems to grow all the way because of some crap that happens every year (like crop blight). It seems that to travel even small distances with a capable team, you need to wipe out half (or more) of your food supply and bring along more colonists than I feel comfortable with (I feel strange taking 2/3 of my colonists along), and even then, what is really the point? To knock out a local enemy camp and take the crappy loot that's there?Īnyone have suggestions (no matter how vague/general) on what kind of mentality to have later in the game, or do other people run into the same issue I'm having? Any vanilla-friendly mods that are particularly good for this? After 8 or so hours of gameplay, I get to a point where I have ~15 colonists, more than enough animals (muffalo, husky, warg, etc.), the obvious resources are mined, everyone has power armor/helmets, etc, and don't have much else to do except maintain food supplies, withstand periodic raids, and travel around in the world.įor whatever reason, the few excursions I've made out into the world have ended horribly, despite bringing 8 or so attack dogs and whatnot. I'm having better luck with Rimworld, but am falling into a similar pattern of restarting. This was mostly because micro-managing several dozen dwarfs was more tedious than fun for me. I remember in DF, I got in the habit of enjoying the early game, but then after a few waves of migrants joining the colony, I would usually start over. Rimworld was an obvious choice for me, partly because I really liked Dwarf Fortress. r/RimWorldStreams - For all of your videos and streams needs r/RimWorldTales - /u/srgrafo's Rimworld Comic Series r/RimworldSwap - Swap saves with other players r/ShitRimworldSays - /r/nocontext posts about /r/RimWorld r/RimworldArt - Posts about Rimworld Artwork (not fanart!) r/Rimreddit - Colonists playing only on a single planet r/RimWorldPorn - High Quality Images of Rimworld Colonies No discussing pirated versions of the game.
